For Child Care Providers

Asthma rates are rising in the pre-school population and chances are you are seeing more children with asthma at your child care center.  The Asthma Coalition of Long Island has a program called Counting on You which will educate the staff at your child care center about asthma, its signs and symptoms, and triggers.  Call us at 631-265-3848 ext. 21 to speak with someone to arrange a presentation at your center and obtain the resources below.

Sesame Workshop presents A is for Asthma with Dani - A Childhood Asthma Awareness Program in English and Spanish.

Both adults and children benefit from learning about asthma.  Watch this video together and talk about each of these important messages:

  • All people breathe, even when they are not thinking about it.
  • People who have asthma sometimes have trouble breathing.
  • Children who asthma can run and play with their friends, as long as they take their medicine, and have regular checkups.
  • Children who don’t have asthma can help friends who do.
