The Asthma Coalition of Long Island
The Asthma Coalition of Long Island is funded by a grant from the New York State Department of Health to the American Lung Association. One of five Asthma Control Program regional contractors, our directive is to reduce the burden of asthma for those most affected by this chronic disease. This initiative aims to increase the quality of life among individuals living with asthma and to decrease the number of asthma-related hospitalizations, emergency department visits, urgent care visits and school or work days lost.

Who We Are
Our membership is comprised of medical professionals, public health professionals, school nurses and administrators, business and government agency leaders, community activists and others dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with asthma. This is achieved through education, information-sharing, networking and advocacy.
What We Do
We identify and focus services on high risk populations within our region, convene and engage local stakeholders, and apply a population-based, systems change approach that translates the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program Expert Panel Report-3 Asthma Guidelines into practice.
